The Approved Workshop Scheme is a joint enterprise between the NCC (National Caravan Council), The Caravan and Motorhome Club and The Camping and Caravanning Club. Originating in 1978, it is the only scheme to be supported by all of the major UK manufacturers*, AWS is now the UK’s largest group of independently assessed workshops and is seen as the benchmark for motorhome and touring caravan servicing in the UK.
There are currently over 500 fixed and mobile Approved Workshops across the UK, and in order to be accepted on to the Scheme, all workshops must pass an annual inspection by a team of independent assessors and must comply with the Scheme’s rigorous standards. So you’ll know that the right things are done, by the right people and to a high standard.

Pre-Owned Pre-Purchase Inspections
For added piece of mind when purchasing a used caravan or motorhome, prospective owners can arrange a Pre-Purchase Inspection with an AWS Workshop or Mobile Engineer. The aim of the AWS Pre-Owned Pre-Purchase Inspections is to provide a potential buyer with a detailed report on the visual and/or operational condition of the caravan or motorhome they are looking to purchase before they commit to buy.

Whilst the inspection will predominately cover just the safety critical elements of a caravan or motorhome, it will also cover other important areas such as damp testing or the operation of a caravan-mover which is often a deciding factor when purchasing.
Pre-Owned Pre-Purchase Inspections are aimed at both trade and private sales of pre-owned caravans and motorhomes and is not intended to replace a full service. Inspections from AWS, also help identify any hidden problems you may not be aware of before you buy which could if undetected lead to costly repairs.
